About Bats |
Oct.
15, 2005 Bat rehabilitator Dottie Hyatt from Lone Star Bat World Brought a few winged friends for zoo visitors to meet. During the presentation visitors were treated to a variety of "batty snacks" including a fruity bat salad and bat juice made from ingredients fruit bats in the rainforest help to grow, either through seed dispersal or pollination. In honor of our insectivorous winged friends here in the Lone Star state, visitors also had the chance to sample cheese flavored mealworms and chocolate covered insects. "Mmmm tastes like nuts!" one youngster exclaimed. I guess it is true what they say cover it in chocolate and just about anything is edible!
