Have you ever wondered what it would be like to work in a zoo? Do you want to share your passion of animals and the natural world with others? If you are 14-17 years of age, you can gain hands-on experience educating zoo visitors about the zoo's animal collection, wildlife and the natural world. Dedicated Zoo Crew team members will be trained to: use biofacts (skulls, antlers, horns, pelts, etc.) to assist zoo visitors in learning more about the zoo's animal collection, handle small animals that are part of education programs, assist with public giraffe feeding, assist with Summer Safari Day Camps, assist with zoo overnights and special events.
A $50 activity fee is required for this program and includes a t-shirt, training manual, behind the scenes field trip to another area zoo and certificate.
To apply: All Jr. Zoo Crew team member applicants must submit a one page typed essay about what they expect to gain from this experience, along with two letters of recommendation and a completed application. A limited number of positions will be available in the program. Participants will be selected based on their application, essay, letters of recommendation, and interview. |
